We enjoyed working with both Michelle and Jimmy. Michelle offered practical advice, did not try to upsell us, had good taste, and was very prompt in her replies. Jimmy put our mind at ease time and time again, was always available for a walk through on our schedule, and was appreciative of my home baking!
Our only frustration with the process was the time in which it took for HRM approvals, and that it had to take the full four months to finish our home (it would have been a lot less stressful for us if it was finished before school started). However, compared to other horror stories we've heard about other builders, we feel we were with the best team in HRM.
We couldn't believe how easy and how fast it was to pick out our own house! Selecting all of our colours and designs was fun and stress free, and we are so happy with the finished product. We appreciated being able to alter the plans to fit our lifestyle too.
We would build with Rooftight again BUT don't plan on ever leaving our lovely home :)

We enjoyed working with your team. It was very nice to get to meet the people doing the work and we especially enjoyed your and Chris' help in putting our home together. Like most things, it's the people involved that make projects a success or a failure.
You made the long distance as little an issue as possible. You anticipated some of the things we wanted/needed and this was very helpful.

As this was our first build, we had lots of questions. I was amazed by how quickly we got replies to emails and the sense of pride that the Rooftight crew had during the build. It was so nice to be able to stop in along the way and see the progress.

Working with the Rooftight team was fantastic, any questions or concerns we had were always answered right away. We always felt like we could contact Michelle or Jimmy with any question & were not being a bother!!! I always tell people that our building experience with Rooftight was stress free & fun. And that’s saying something considering at the time I was pregnant, had a 1 and 3 yr old at home and my husband was away at sea for a lot of the build. Building a home stress free under those circumstances really shows the quality and care of the company we were working with! We felt like we were always included in decisions & could go to you for anything. We really felt that our happiness is really what you wanted. After our great building experience, recommending Rooftight is a no brainer!

When we decided to build another new home for the second time it was an easy decision to build again with Scott and his team at Rooftight. Scott built our first home eight years ago and we enjoyed the building experience with Rooftight so much that we didn’t even look at any other contractors. From our own experience, we knew that Scott builds quality homes, on time and to your personal taste. We have to honestly say that our second experience building with Scott and his team was even better than the first time. The building process has become so much more personal and even more enjoyable. Meeting with Michelle at the new Rooftight Design Centre made everything so much easier and stress free. With the help and support of Michelle’s expertise and knowledge allowed us to build a home that not only reflects us as home owners but also serves the needs of our family. To Scott and Michelle and Jimmy, thank you for taking the time to get to know us again, not just as home owners, but also as individuals. We truly enjoyed every personal touch that went into creating such a beautifully crafted home. Many would say that deciding to build a new home is a brave and bold move, most would say that deciding to do this while living in a different country from your new home is just plain foolish! However, I would suggest that these people have yet to meet the Rooftight team.
In November 2009, my husband and I travelled from the UK to visit Nova Scotia in order to reach a decision regarding our potential emigration to the province. A critical part of this trip was to determine whether we could find a property that would provide our family of five with a home to accommodate our desired lifestyle. Having viewed nearly a dozen established homes, our realtor took us to see Rooftight’s model home in Fall River.
As we drew up to the model home it was clear that there was real care being taken in the way the community was being developed by the builder; the layout of the lots and the well kept environment was a clear sign to us that this builder took pride in their ‘product’. This impression was further enhanced by the obvious quality of the model home; from the exterior landscaping, to the beautiful interior design, to the use of technologically advanced materials and products we were very impressed by what we saw.
However, taking on such a large-scale project from overseas would need more than confidence in the product. It would require the development of a relationship with our builder based on trust that was built on open and honest communication from the start. Given that at this stage we had not even met the builder or his team we were extremely doubtful that this could be achieved. How wrong we were!
Later that week we had the pleasure of meeting Rooftight’s Director of Marketing and Design and one of the business’ Project Managers to walk our preferred lot. It was immediately clear that the Rooftight team were able and willing to answer any questions we might have as ‘novices’ in home building. Given that home construction in Canada differs quite significantly from our then UK home we had plenty of questions! It was a very worthwhile initial session which demonstrated two key points to us about Rooftight; firstly, that there would be no compromise in the quality of the home they could build for us and secondly the project would be a partnership between us.
On our return to the UK, it was not long before we were having regular transatlantic calls to undertake the management of the project. Soon we were also enjoying the receipt of regular photographs of our new home which gave us yet further confidence in the quality of the build and allowed us to make the necessary design decisions from distance. Every question we had was met with an answer and often a detailed explanation for the answer.
We were very keen to take advantage of Rooftight’s commitment to building an energy efficient home and given that Canadian homes face a range of climate challenges unfamiliar to us Brits, once again we were reliant upon the team’s expertise to incorporate the necessary products and materials in our home to achieve our aim of energy efficiency. This has now been verified by a range of tests that have proven the energy efficiency of our new home.
Having now lived in our new home for over a month, we continue to be delighted daily with how our home ‘fits’ our family and our desired lifestyle; a clear demonstration to us of the success of Rooftight’s design approach. We are equally delighted by the fact that our relationship with the Rooftight team continues; when Hurricane Earl hit the province and when we had problems with our appliances supplier the team went ‘over and above’ in supporting us through these difficulties. So to those who would consider building a new home to be brave, bold or even foolish please let us introduce you to Rooftight Construction; in our opinion Nova Scotia’s premier builders. Better still, come and visit their new Design Centre in Fall River and let the product and team speak for themselves!

We could not have been more pleased with the whole process and how easy you guys made it for Meghan and I with the lack of experience and knowledge we both had with purchasing a brand new home.
Michelle was fantastic at answering our questions helping us pick out our interior finishings throughout the whole process. The house itself was wonderfully constructed and we both have absolutely loved living in it so far.
We both think Jimmy is a great guy and it has been nice to see him stop by a couple times to ask us how everything is going. We both really appreciated that.
As for recommending you to others. I know personally I can't count how many people I have spoken too regarding the quality of home you build and quality of service provided with it. I know that even a couple of them had checked out your booth at the home show a couple months ago. We both would definatly look to build with you again in the coming years! You get a discount for the second house don't you? LOL

We enjoyed our experience working with the RoofTight Team. We would definitely recommend RoofTight as a builder to friends since our expectations were exceeded. While living in Calgary we were hearing horror stories about local builds going months over schedule and we were a little nervous about building, especially since we were starting the process while living thousands of kilometres away.
From day one, everyone we met with at RoofTight was knowledgeable, professional, honest and very friendly. Any questions or concerns we had were addressed promptly. With so many decisions to be made, we thought that building a home may be stressful, but having your professional opinion was invaluable to us, and our meetings always felt very relaxed.
If we were to build again, we would strongly consider doing so with the Rooftight Team, having seen the quality and pride that goes into their homes. Thank you!!

It was nice to meet you today as well. I think it was good for my clients to meet with you as it has given them a new level of comfort with Rooftight Construction. We viewed 30 plus homes over the last 4 days. All the properties we viewed were new construction. In my opinion Rooftight Construction is delivering a very well designed, built, and thought out product to buyers. It's nice to see someone take the time and energy to build a home properly. Being first time homebuyers out in the world of real estate can be a bit intimidating. After being introduced to the prospect of building we knew this is what we wanted to do! You often hear stories of how building a home can be stressful. Rest assure if you choose Rooftight as your contractor it will be stress free!!! When it came time to picking out everything for the home, it took probably 2 hours! You go to one stop, and their designer Michelle is right there assisting you in your choices. You’re not running from place to place to make decisions, which is really nice. Everyone on their team was so friendly and knowledgeable, and you can tell they really enjoy what they do. I think they were just as excited as we were to be in our first home! The end result is just amazing. The craftsman ship and fine detail really are above everyone. We absolutely love our house, but when we need more space and decide to build again, RoofTight will be our first call!

We drove through Capilano Country Estates with the detailed plans for our retirement home rolled up on the back seat. We liked what we saw and met with Scott Smith and Kathy Wambolt a few days later. Scott understood our dream and all the details that would be needed to make it a reality. He was certain that he and his team could deliver, even though this wasn’t one of this ‘stock’ plans. He showed us examples of his workmanship in the homes he was currently building. We were sold! It was particularly important that we have full confidence in Scott and his tradespeople since we would only be able to visit Nova Scotia three or four times during construction. We were also asking for many custom features and things to be done ‘our way’. Any issues with plan details or materials on the jobsite would have to be resolved via telephone or e-mail. Very few items arose as we went along and all were satisfactorily resolved. Our last visit, three weeks prior to closing, gave a hint of great things to come! We closed on this transaction while driving through New England on our way to Nova Scotia and retirement, skipping the customary pre-closing inspection.
At dusk the next day, Scott was waiting for us, sitting by the side door, to give us our keys and show us through the completed house. His big smile showed that he was justly proud of what he and his team had accomplished. The house exceeded our expectations in virtually every aspect. Scott had delivered precisely as he had promised and we now had our 'dream home'. As the months in our new home have passed, our sense of wonder at what skilled hands can build remains and our satisfaction with our home grows.
